In Year 9 students begin to target their learning through the elective program.
The Year 9 curriculum focuses on the increasing globalisation and interconnectedness of the world into which students will move post-school. This takes place through the lens of a study of Chinese culture, which sees all boys participate in a three-week immersion experience in China.
The core curriculum is expanded through the introduction of a suite of semester-length subjects, the aim of which is to help each boy develop a clearer sense of his interests, passions and enthusiasms. The subject choices made in Year 9 do not commit students to a particular program in the final three years of schooling, and as such, this year should be seen as a further opportunity for boys to explore disciplines and subject areas.
The core English program in Year 9 follows the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum. Where appropriate, relevant language subjects will also be aligned with this course.
