Primary Years Programme

Primary Years Programme (PYP)

The Junior School and the Early Learning Centre is an International Baccalaureate World School authorised to use the PYP framework of Inquiry.

The nature of the PYP allows transdisciplinary learning to occur which means there is opportunity for classroom and specialist teachers to focus learning on a theme, concept, skill or action. Learning extends beyond any single classroom space, and learning experiences are relevant, engaging, significant and challenging.

Learning is developed through a child’s natural curiosity, while benchmarked to the expectations of the Australian Curriculum. It is a balance between the intellectual, the social and the personal; each is important and each is interlinked with the others. Students across all levels are regularly and rigorously assessed using selected formative and summative assessment tools.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Learner Profile is a specific focus in the ELC and Junior School; learners strive to be inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, courageous, balanced and reflective.
