The Trinity Grammar School Early Learning Centre is coeducational and operates a 3-year-old and 4-year-old program with full and part-time options available.

In our Early Learning Centre, learning is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy and delivered through the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IB PYP) and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF), which outline the principles, practices and outcomes essential to support and enhance young children’s learning.

Each day, children actively explore, question and imagine at their own pace, developing new interests and school readiness skills through play-based learning.

Our young learners are immersed in experiences which enable them to explore, question, collaborate, think critically, problem solve, communicate and discover new knowledge. These opportunities allow them to develop social skills and self-confidence as well as a positive disposition to learning.

The classroom is a community, and the Trinity Early Learning Centre philosophy is that a strong relationship between students, educators and families is essential to fostering happy young learners.

The Murray E Verso Centre for Early Learning

Our Early Learning facility was purpose-built and opened in 1999 to cater for the educational needs of our youngest students.

Dual indoor learning spaces open into a combined outdoor area shaded by a beautiful oak tree that creates countless opportunities for learning and engagement with the natural environment. Student experiences foster physical and social development, as well as ecological and sustainability understanding.

As the seasons change, our students are active observers in how our tree adapts to the new weather conditions. Autumn brings the discovery of acorns and then the bare limbs of the tree through winter. As spring comes around, our tree is full of bright, green, new leaves providing a canopy of shade for the long, warm months of summer.

Being physically situated within the Trinity Junior School, the location provides access to school facilities and support services, take part in specialist activities such as music, library and physical education, and the opportunity to participate in events and activities as a whole-school community.

Alumnus Dr Murray Verso (OTG 1966) is the namesake of the Murray W. Verso Centre for Early Childhood Learning

Preparing for Prep

Embedded in our Early Learning Centre program is the development of the core skills needed for school.

Our committed staff and leading educational practice provide young children with a stimulating program that enhances learning and development to support and nurture the whole child to foster a passion in discovery and exploration, building the foundations for lifelong learning.

Emotional regulation, building fine and gross motor skills, and creating an awareness of letters, numbers, sounds and symbols are just some of the ways we help students prepare for Prep.

Knowing how to share and take turns, hold a pen and sit at a table for lunch makes the transition just that little bit easier when the time comes.
