FROM THE HEADMASTER
Last Tuesday night, my wife, Rosemary, and I had the pleasure of attending the Junior School Musical, Madagascar. It was fabulous entertainment and wonderful to see so many young boys on stage, singing, dancing and, above all, enjoying themselves. The amount of work that went into the production was extraordinary (the costumes, for example, were amazing) and all involved, students, staff and parents, are to be thoroughly congratulated and sincerely thanked.
Of course, the week would not have been complete without a couple of feeds.
Firstly, on Friday morning, came the Junior School Father’s Day Breakfast, where we not only got a sumptuous breakfast, but were induced to play games that tested our dexterity. As you can well imagine, I did not excel in this part of the festivities.
Secondly, I went to the Jazz Night on Friday evening, where, after another fulsome meal, I got to listen to eight ensembles and three vocalists over a three-hour period. The quality of music was exceedingly high and, again, it was wonderful to see so many boys involved. Our Music staff does a fantastic job.
Our Year 9 students are now back on deck after the China trips, Licola camps and Community Service. All three programs went well, and I thank the staff who coordinated and attended the activities, especially those on the China trips, where the days are long, and the responsibilities are high.
On a final note, Sue Felton, our Director of Development and Community Relations, will finish up with us on September 19. Sue has been appointed to a senior development role at Melbourne Grammar School and we wish her well in this new venture. We also thank her for all her work at Trinity over recent years.

ELC NEWS
Last week was one of the busiest ever at the Early Learning Centre, commencing with a very special Morning Tea for our ‘graduates’ from 2005 and finishing with Father’s Day Breakfasts on Thursday and Friday mornings. We wish all Year 12 students every success with their studies and exams.
In between, all the children were very excited about attending the Junior School musical – Madagascar – and we were so impressed with the enthusiasm and talent of all the boys – and staff. We thank the Junior School for the invitation and we hope this becomes a regular event on our calendar.
Forms for the Term 3 Holiday Program were also distributed last week. If parents would like their child to participate in this, please ensure the completed form is returned by Friday 7 September.
We would also like to remind all families that Grandparents’ and Friends’ Mornings will be held in the ELC on Thursday 6 September and Friday 7 September between 8.45am and 10.15am.

Director of the ELC
JUNIOR SCHOOL NEWS
Madagascar Jr, the Musical
Participation in Performing arts provides our boys with the opportunity to develop team work, creativity, confidence and help them to strive for their personal best. The art of performance is a powerful experience to communicate visually, physically and aurally. Our Trinity Junior School boys were no exception as they sang, danced and acted their hearts out in Madagascar Jr, the Musical. In four sold-out shows, our students made us proud as they embodied the personalities of the characters and performed with passion and energy.
Our Prep to Year 2 boys began the show with an original performance based on the book Giraffes Can’t Dance by Giles Andreae. The monkeys, elephants and zebras exuded a love of learning.
We would like to congratulate every student for their role within the performances. Whether a lead cast character or ensemble member, every boy who stepped on the stage should be proud of their efforts. We offer a special thank you to all teachers, teaching assistants, educational support staff and members of the Trinity community who helped make the musical a memorable experience for all of our students.
Emily MacLean
Junior School Deputy Head of Innovation and School Excellence

SENIOR SCHOOL NEWS
Uniform and Lost Property
Boys who have lost named items have been emailed by Reception to remind them to collect their clothes. Any unclaimed items, named or not, will be sent to the Trinity Second-hand Uniform Shop at the end of Term 3.
For Term 4, boys may wear summer uniform. Boys may no longer wear scarves to school once the weather has warmed up and they are not to wear a hat/cap in class.
Boys should have pride in their appearance and a respect for themselves, their school and for family members, as well as members of the community, particularly on public transport.
The Independent Revue
It has been the tradition since the mid-1980s for the senior boys to create and perform a School Revue. The boys unite and perform many short skits, poking a bit of fun at the school and each other. This year’s Revue will be on Monday 10 September in the P & F Hall at 7.30pm. Tickets are $10 at the door.
AGSV Athletics
Good luck to the 200m, 400m and 4x100m runners for their Eliminations Heats on Thursday in preparation for the AGSV Sports on Wednesday 12th September.
Congratulations to Captain of Athletics, Will Murphy and Vice Captains, Will Lindsay, Tom Sellwood and Lucas Archer.
Energy Breakthrough Sponsorship Promotion
Trinity’s Energy Breakthrough team is looking for sponsorships from corporates within the School community who may be able to provide financial assistance to our team. The Energy Breakthrough event, held annually in Maryborough, attracts much interest and has a wide coverage across media. Since 2005, Trinity’s team has consistently performed well at this event. We have three sponsorship packages available to businesses: Gold ($2000), Silver ($1000), and Standard ($500). Businesses willing to assist should email 614176@trinity.vic.edu.au or lundiei@trinity.vic.edu.au
Thank you
The family of Hugh Blunt, who was diagnosed with Mitochondrial disease this year, would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone in the Trinity community who has provided meals for them over the past few months. It has been a tremendous help and they express deep gratitude.
The family has indicated they are now able to manage meals without assistance.

Thanks must to: Hugo Miric, Adam Cusinato, Nathan Savundra-Shepherd, Sam Port, William Murphy, Jake Helder, Hamilton Crouch, Tom Denovan and Finn Horan for their time and effort with the younger boys. The first round in the Junior Secondary Debating Competition was highly successful, with our boys winning 8 out of the 12 debates! The topic debated was ‘That all female athletes should have the same pay and conditions as male athletes’. Congratulations to the following boys who were awarded the title of Best Speaker: Michael Fan, Daniel Marcou, Dulnith Samaraweera, William Johnson, Aden Wilmshurst, James Fox and Enda Han.

The Chichester Psalms is one of Bernstein’s musical masterpieces; we invite you to experience and enjoy this rarely performed work with us in the magnificence of St Paul’s Cathedral on Wednesday 12 September at 7.30pm.
Leonard Bernstein was one of the twentieth century’s most acclaimed musicians. His greatest skill was bringing the joy and beauty of music to people in an easily accessible manner. Bernstein shaped the way music was composed. He wrote symphonies, chamber and solo works, as well as the music for West Side Story, On the Waterfront, Peter Pan, On the Town and Candide.
The Concert will feature The Bernstein Choir, comprising the Trinity Junior and Senior Choirs, St Paul’s Cathedral Choir and the Trinity Community Choir. The Bernstein Choir will be accompanied by the Trinity Symphony Orchestra.
Tickets are available at via Trybooking. Adult – $15, Child (up to 19 years of age) – Free, no need tickets for students who are performing.
