From the Junior School
It has been a pleasure to join Trinity this year and specifically to meet our Junior School teams in the days leading up to the students’ first day for 2023. The energy and excitement a new start can bring has shone brightly as we adapt to the routines term life asks of all. Whilst the start of year ‘busyness’ in resetting and resettling is necessary, it is not without a common thread of zest for being the best version of self and working together that enables each experience to be beneficial. Parent Information Evening provided an opportunity for home and school to form or consolidate valuable relationships, so that collectively we can best support our young people in their learning adventures.
Assemblies have exemplified what led me to Trinity; reflecting last year’s School Captain’s observation that at Trinity it is about belonging, not fitting in, navigating what it is to be authentic and how we can continue to encourage an environment that enables it. Our Junior School community were encouraged by their School Captains to get involved in the life of the school and embrace mistakes as part of their learning. Wandering through learning spaces, the student leaders’ invitation to learn from each other and be courageous was embraced, particularly through the opportunity transition and orientation offers. With new students in Prep, Years 2 and 3 and Year 5, all Trinitarians were asked to make choices that both help welcome others and to be welcomed by others. As a new member of the team myself, I shared with the students the kind welcome I have enjoyed and how each of us can think about how we can be the best part of someone’s day.
As leaders of the Junior School, Year 6 participate in their Leaders Day with Year 9 Mentors. With representatives across diverse portfolios, the School Captains have already confirmed meetings to plan the term ahead with a keen agenda for a productive year. In building on the existing peer mentoring and leadership opportunities, a focus on leadership for all will focus on leading self, others and beyond. We are very much looking forward to Year 12 Prefects joining the Junior School Leadership Induction Service.
Welcome to all new and returning Trinity students and families to the new school year. We look forward to embracing a year of celebration together.

Welcome back to all students
It has been a very positive beginning to the 2023 school year. Year 11 and Year 12 students began with Orientation programs, and we welcomed our Year 7 students for a preliminary day, where they were supported by peer mentors from Year 10, to assist with their orientation to Senior School.
Uniform update
The white TGS sport caps and additional house polos are due at Bob Stewart early next week.
I look forward to reporting on an array of activities as the school term progresses, including an update on Year 8 camp, HPAF rehearsals and AGSV sporting outcomes, to name a few.

West Gate Tunnel Project: Footscray Road travel changes
The following information about roadworks on Footscray Road may be of interest to any students or staff who travel to and from Melbourne’s west via Footscray Road:
As part of West Gate Tunnel Project works, we are building a new elevated road over Footscray Road that will connect the new tunnels with CityLink, the port, Dynon Road, and provide better access to Wurundjeri Way.
In order to build the connections that will go to and from the city and CityLink, we are required to close sections of Footscray Road for a period of six months. The closures are as follows:
- 12 January 2022 until early-April: 24/7 closure of Footscray Road between DockLink and Appleton Dock Road. Drivers may detour via Dynon Road, with delays of up to 15 minutes expected in peak hour.
- Early-April until mid-May: 24/7 closure of Footscray Road westbound between Appleton Dock Road and Dock Link Road. Drivers may detour via Spencer Street and Dynon Road – more information will be available regarding this closure closer to the time.
- Mid-May until June: 24/7 closure of Footscray Road citybound.
More information about the summer roadworks is available on the Big Build website and on the attached Notification of Works.
Drivers are being advised to allow additional travel time while these works take place. To help plan your journey, we are encouraging drivers to check the Big Build disruptions map at bigbuild.vic.gov.au
Should you have any questions, please call the project team at any time on 1800 105 105.
Kind regards,
West Gate Tunnel Project engagement team
