Year 9 China Tour (2016)

The first Year 9 China Experience Tour is well underway and I can report that the boys are up and running with their very full programs.  Already we have had small group research undertaken, groups have visited the Forbidden City and the Great Wall, and others have caught the bullet trains to and from Tianjin.

The weather has been very hot and humid – we even had an electric storm blow through last night – yet somehow, despite the physical challenges, many of the lads have had the energy to go out and play soccer or basketball at any available opportunity.

The food has been most satisfying, if a little different, and there has been an absolute abundance of it.  No one is going hungry.  Boys are sharing air-conditioned rooms in groups of three and they have had no trouble in making themselves at home.  They have mastered the subway system and negotiated traffic being on the right side of the roads, not to mention the electric motorbikes which seem to share the footpaths more often than the roads!

Every single moment presents fantastic learning opportunities and the boys are demonstrating time and again that they are real sponges.  The way they are interacting with their guides and chaperones is fabulous.  They are really friendly and helpful people and the boys are clearly growing to understand just how exciting it is to make friends overseas.
