Congratulations, Hadyn Tang

Year 10 student, Hadyn Tang recently travelled to Bath in the United Kingdom as part of the six-man Australian team competing in the International Mathematical Olympiad. This is the third consecutive year that Hadyn has been selected for the Australian Team – in 2017 he travelled to Brazil, and in 2018 to Romania.

The Australian team placed 18th in the world, and Hadyn finished 48th out of 621 competitors, which saw him awarded a Gold medal. His significant contribution to the team also helped Australia win the Mathematical Ashes against the UK 104-77.

In the lead up to the world Olympiad this year, Hadyn achieved a high level of success in a range of competitions. He has placed first in the University of Melbourne mathematics competition on multiple occasions, as well as winning a number of prizes and medals in the Australian Mathematics Competition. He has participated in the Australian Mathematical Olympiad, the Asia Pacific Olympiad and the Australian Senior Contest.

He is an outstanding young mathematician, and we congratulate him on this wonderful honour.
